Yes. We felt safe the entire time. The bigger risk is getting stranded if airspace closes, not personal safety on the ground. Check travel advisories before you go, have insurance and a plan, but don't let regional news scare you off.

Z didn't feel unsafe, though the street harassment and vendor pressure in Petra is real. Standard precautions apply. I'd say it's safer than Morocco or Egypt based on our experience.

One week is the sweet spot. You can cover the main loop (Amman-Petra-Wadi Rum-Aqaba-Dead Sea) without feeling rushed. 10 days would let you add Jerash and maybe a second night in Wadi Rum.

Is the Jordan Pass worth it?

Do the math yourself if you want, but yes. The 75 JD pass includes the visa (40 JD) and 2-day Petra (55 JD). That's already 95 JD worth of stuff for 75 JD. And you get Wadi Rum and dozens of other sites included.

Kunafa for dessert (the sweet cheese pastry situation). Shawarma, obviously. Lebanese food is everywhere and excellent. Cardamom tea with every meal. Fresh bread baked daily. Don't overthink it—eat what's local and you'll eat well.

No. The JETT bus network covers the main route. Uber works in Amman. Taxis are negotiable (and you should negotiate). If you want flexibility, rental cars are available and friends have had good experiences.
